Executive Director & Founder

Michelle Castro Douglass

Michelle Douglass is Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit, Prom Plus NYC, an organization that provides targeted educational programming to our city's youth.  Michelle provides strategic direction to Prom Plus NYC and leads operations for its variety of self-empowerment workshops; hosted throughout the school year and culminating with her signature Spring event, The Total Boutique Experience (TBE).

She founded the program in 2015 after leaving a successful 15+ year sales and marketing career at highly regarded magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Vibe, and Latina. Throughout her full-time corporate career which required her to travel a great deal, she maintained a consistent dedication to community service.  Her corporate experience along with having volunteered for countless family and youth charities, uniquely positioned to create an organization dedicated to young adult empowerment. Prom Plus NYC began with a few participants and a handful of dresses. Five years later, it has developed into so much more including seminars on etiquette, social media safety, and an intensive vision board workshop that challenges students to dream their biggest dream and to claim it as a part of their life's journey.

Her core belief is if one builds a teen's self-confidence while arming them with educational opportunities, they will change the world.
